Summary of a Latin Charter

✠ These are the title deeds of the estate at Westwell which King Æthelberht gave to Wullaf, his thegn, in return for another estate of the same size at Mersham. The king gave and granted by charter to Wullaf five ploughlands at Westwell in return for the five ploughlands at Mersham into folkland for himself; when they had exchanged the estates, with the exception of the marshes and the salthouse at Faversham, and the wood which belongs to the salthouse.
